Frisco construction workers hit gas line

FRISCO – Fire officials closed a block of Main Street for about 30 minutes Wednesday morning when construction workers severed a gas line as they were excavating near First Avenue.

“They hit a line that wasn’t identified to be in the area,” said Lt. John Wilkerson, with Lake Dillon Fire-Rescue. “It was purely by accident. That happens from time to time (in construction areas).”

Officials cordoned off the area as they waited for the cel utility company to fix the leak because the gas could ignite if someone lit a cigarette or started a car, Wilkerson said.
