Frisco disc golf, skate park now open
FRISCO ” Ice and water levels may still be hampering local marina operations, but Friday marked the opening of ballfields, the disc golf course and the skate park at the peninsula recreation area.
Skate park improvements are scheduled for late July or early August.
“We are anticipating the skate park being closed for approximately one week for construction,” explained Frisco recreation manager Seth Blackmer.
The Town of Frisco thanks citizens in advance for respecting the rules at the Frisco Peninsula Recreation area. Dogs must be on a leash; pack out all trash; the peninsula hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m, seven days a week. For more information, call Frisco public works at (970) 668-0836.
The town is also preparing for the 32nd annual Run the Rockies race, set for June 7.
The 32nd edition of the event could draw as many as 400 contestants, including locals, Front Rangers and runners from surrounding mountain towns.
This year’s race continues with the downhill format for both courses, the Ten Mile Creek 10K run/walk and a half-marathon to Frisco. While the 10K downhill ends on Frisco Main Street, the half-marathon continues on the bike path, turns around just before Farmer’s Korner, doubles back and ends on Frisco’s Main Street.
