Frisco mission already defined

Tony FlitcraftFrisco

The headline in Summit Daily News’ April 12 article says it all: “Town of Frisco searching for identity – revenue.” Town of Frisco can already be identified as a revenue- rich town searching for more ways to spend other peoples’ money. The search for Frisco’s identity has been defined: A small town filled with friendly, energetic people, enjoying living and working in a mountain paradise. Through private enterprise and a Chamber of Commerce, they provide each other, and visitors, with the goods and services that sustain that enjoyment. Their elected government should be limited to those functions properly assigned to government: law and order, public thorough fares, water and sewer, and parks and recreation. No more revenue should be taken from the people than is necessary to pay for those services.Government should neither compete nor interfere with the private sector.

Summit Daily is embarking on a multiyear project to digitize its archives going back to 1989 and make them available to the public in partnership with the Colorado Historic Newspapers Collection. The full project is expected to cost about $165,000. All donations made in 2023 will go directly toward this project.
