The town of Frisco’s annual fireworks show is a go, town officials announced Monday.

Thanks to recent moisture, which has lowered the fire danger, the town of Frisco and the Lake Dillon Fire Department are confident the 2013 fireworks display can be shot without incident and will light up the sky this Fourth of July.

“The Frisco’s location is one of the safest in the state with the lake launch point and open space,” said Jeff Berino, deputy chief of the Lake Dillon Fire Department, in a news release. “We feel confident we are a go for the fourth.”

Frisco had to cancel their fireworks in 2012 in accordance with a statewide fire ban, the release stated. It was only the second such cancellation in more than 12 years.

The town of Frisco would also like to remind all citizens that while there are no additional bans on personal fireworks, local laws will be enforced. Frisco’s fireworks policy permits the use of sparklers and ground displays, but not aerial fireworks.

Locals unsure about whether or not their personal fireworks are legal may call the Frisco Police Department at 668-3579.

The best viewing spot for the Frisco fireworks is the Frisco Bay Marina. A concert by Cody Canada and the Departed kicks off at 7:15 p.m. The fireworks show will begin at 9:30 p.m.

Escorted parking will be available at The Marina all day with limited availability. Handicap parking also will be available, although access to leave will be restricted for pedestrian safety, according to the release.

No outside alcohol will be permitted and coolers are subject to inspection. Alcohol checks will begin at 5 p.m. at the marina, but alcoholic beverages will be available for purchase.

The Frisco Fourth of July is a pet-friendly event, the release stated.
