Frisco searching for retail developer

JULIE SUTORsummit daily news

FRISCO – Town officials are beginning the hunt for a developer that can deliver an aesthetically pleasing, environmentally friendly retail development that won’t outcompete local businesses. The winning candidate could eventually dig its backhoes into 9.4 acres of coveted, controversial real estate in a prime commercial location next to Interstate 70 behind Safeway. Early next week, the town will post a request for qualifications (RFQ), through which competing developers will submit their ideas and credentials to the town. The RFQ will appear on the town’s website and in a handful of trade publications.

Interested developers will have about 45 days to respond. Town officials will then narrow the field and ask finalists to submit thorough project proposals. A citizen committee will help select the best project to proceed through the town’s formal development application process.Julie Sutor can be reached at (970) 668-3998 ext. 203 or
