Frisco thanks volunteers

The Town of Frisco thanks the more than 400 volunteers who showed up May 19 to clean up the town parks and right-of-ways. According to Mayor Bernie Zurbriggen, Town is looking good. The town is proud to report that the event was a zero waste event. After serving lunch to the volunteers, only one garbage bag went to the landfill. The rest of the trash generated at the event was entirely compostable. The town worked with High Country Conservation Center and provided cornstarch, compostable cups for the cold drinks. Unbleached and un-waxed paper goods were also used and the tree-free plates, napkins and utensils were all recyclable. A special thanks goes to the following sponsors who contributed to the event and helped provide the free barbecue lunch: New Belgium Brewery, High Country Conservation Center, Summit County Landfill, Summit County Public Health Nursing, Summit County Government, Summit County Road & Bridge, Tuscato’s, Waste Management, Credit Union of the Rockies, Summit Daily News, Eco Products, KYSL, KTUN, KSMT, KSKE, KCMV. Also, a special thanks goes to Charlotte Clarke and all the volunteers who spruced up the Frisco cemetery in honor of Historical Preservation month. And the Frisco Public Works Department deserves recognition for all their work picking up the trash bags after the event along the streets and for the great job in the maintenance of the streets and parks all year long.
