Frisco to review peninsula recreation plan

FRISCO – The town of Frisco will hold a public meeting Tuesday, March 4, to take comments on a revised recreation plan for the Peninsula Recreation Area. The meeting will take place from 5:30-7 p.m. at Frisco Town Hall.

The revised plan comes after last November’s election, when voters knocked a golf course off the list of possible items for recreational development.

Public comment offered at the meeting will be documented as an attachment to the recreation plan, according to Linda Lichtendahl, the town’s community relations director. The revised plan will be presented to the town council for adoption at its regularly scheduled meeting March 18.

The plan, drafted by Winston Associates, has been compiled based on council comment, refinement offered by the consultants, staff input and election results.

The current concept includes a multi-purpose ice arena/performing arts/community center, Nordic village, amphitheater, ski jump/sledding hill, ice skating and summer/winter trail improvements.

No building envelopes or dimensions are shown in the plan, and no acreage has been determined, Lichtendahl said.
