Frisco Town Council candidate positions now available

Petitions are available for candidates interested in running for municipal office in the April 1 town of Frisco election.

Three nonpartisan council member positions are up for election this year. The term of office is four years and town council meets twice a month, on the second and fourth Tuesdays.

Other time commitments are required throughout the year as well, but the position is compensated.

Eligible candidates could have begun circulating their petitions Feb. 10. Each petition circulator must complete an affidavit of circulator to be submitted with the petition. Instructions for the circulator are available through the Frisco town clerk’s office.

Eligible candidates must be:

• A United States citizen

• At least 18 years of age

• A resident of the town of Frisco for 12 consecutive months preceding the date of the election

• A registered voter

Residents who have been convicted of embezzlement, bribery, perjury, solicitation of bribery or subornation of perjury are not eligible to run for local office.

Completed petitions must be returned to the town clerk on or before 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 28. In addition to the petition, candidates also need to submit an acceptance of nomination form.
