Frisco Town Council undergoes a second vacancy in a matter of weeks

On Sunday, Feb. 2, Frisco council member Andrew Aerenson submitted a letter of resignation to the Frisco Town Council.

He cited a move to another area of Summit County as his reason. He has held a position on the Frisco Town Council since April 2020, and his term was set to end in April 2028. This comes weeks after former council member Lisa Holenko vacated her seat.

According to town representatives, an appointment process is currently underway to fill Holenko’s seat. In the event of a resignation, council can choose between calling for a special election or appointing a resident to the vacant seat within 45 days.

During a Jan. 14 meeting, council decided to move forward with an appointment process for Holenko’s vacancy. At a Feb. 11 meeting, the council will decide whether to hold a special election for council member Aerenson’s seat or to appoint a qualified candidate identified through the appointment process initiated to fill Holenko’s council seat.

Petitions, applications and letters of interest are due Feb. 5.

Candidacy information may be found by visiting FriscoGov.com or by contacting Town Clerk Stacey Nell at townclerk@townoffrisco.com or at 970-668-9122.
