Frisco town hall sale final next week

Lu Snyder

FRISCO – Frisco is selling town hall.

On Tuesday, the Frisco town council approved the sale of town hall (and the land on which it sits) for $2.5 million. The sale proceeds will be used to fund the Lakefront Park and Marina project.

Earlier this year, town officials agreed selling town hall would be the best means to fund improvements at the Frisco Marina. They sold certificates of participation on Bloomberg Financial Market Monday, but the sale of the building will not be final until the closing Thursday, May 30, said assistant town manager Theresa Casey.

As part of the sale agreement, the town will lease back the building for the next 20 years – with the intent of owning it again. The process is similar to refinancing a house, interim town manager Tim Mack said.

The Lakefront Park and Marina project will be completed in three phases, over three years, town officials said.

Construction on the first phase of the project will begin next week. The town has hired Columbine Hills Concrete and Grant Miller Excavating to level the area, pave the parking areas and work on the infrastructure – gas, electric, water and sewer.

Town officials said the construction should be completed by Aug. 30; they do not plan to conduct any work in the area during the week of July 4.
