FRISCO<Frisco resident Jody Thompson is on her way to Everest.Thompson and a team of four other women, including former Summit County resident Kimberly Clark, are being sponsored by Ford as the first all-woman team to climb Mt. Everest.3It1s a group of women who have always dreamed to climb Mt. Everest, Thompson said from New York Tuesday. The five-woman team will be interviewed this morning on the Today Show (7 a.m. MST), is scheduled to appear on CNN live between 10 and 11 a.m. MST, and will be interviewed today on ESPN. They leave the country Thursday to begin their trek, and will attempt their summit in May.Thompson said she has always dreamed of climbing Everest and views it as the opportunity of a lifetime. Still, it was a difficult decision for her, because the trip requires her leaving behind her husband, Mark, and their 1-year-old son, Hans.3My husband has been 100-percent supportive through this because he is a climber himself, Thompson said. The Summit Daily will highlight Thompson, Clark and their endeavor in detail in The Outdoor Page, Monday, April 1.
