FRISCO – There’s royalty among us – 25-year-old Tracy Register recently won the Miss Colorado International 2010 title, and she’ll fly to Chicago in July in hopes of being crowned Miss International 2010.

Register lives in Frisco, and she works as a resort services group supervisor at Copper Mountain Resort. This is Register’s third winter season in Summit County.

The Miss Colorado International 2010 competition was held in Montrose in October, and it’s based on showcasing the accomplishments of young women, Register said. Participants raise money for various causes, and they’re judged on their presentation and speaking skills. The purpose of the competition is to create role models within communities.

Register’s cause – the American Heart Association’s Go Red for Women campaign – is important to her because so many women are affected by heart disease. She also said she plans to raise funds for her cause throughout the community this winter.

“Heart disease does run in my family,” she said. “That’s the main reason I chose it. … One in every 2.4 women will die of heart disease.”

Register also volunteers for the Summit County Community and Senior Center in Frisco, the 50+ Open Winter Games and Early Childhood Options.
