Hello Mud Season! Time to re-energize with a quick trip to Moab, perhaps surfing and cerveza in Mexico, or if you are staying put, just enjoy feeling smug about the ample parking opportunities in town.

So…what is the significance of Tuesday, April 6, 2010? Well, it’s the 8th and final day of the Jewish Holiday of Passover of course. While the holiday begins with a Spring cleaning of sorts, we have another ‘Spring cleaning’ event on the same date, where the good citizens of Breckenridge will dutifully choose three new town council members. There are seven candidates vying for three open slots, and I would advise everyone to do their due diligence before voting. SAR sponsored a very successful county wide town council candidate forum at Beaver Run Resort on March 15, and for those that attended, I know you will agree it was a great opportunity to hear the candidates speak on a number of issues that directly affect our business. I would like to bring your attention to two candidates who are outstanding Realtors in our community and members of SAR, and ask that you give them full scrutiny, and then hopefully your vote of confidence on election day. Wouldn’t it be great to have TWO qualified candidates, who happen to be Realtors, on the Breckenridge town council! Without reinventing the wheel, I will point you to these two candidates web pages where each discusses in detail their bios and views on many issues affecting the town of Breckenridge:

On another note, I attended a talk on March 15 by renowned Realtor and speaker Steve Harney , where a handful of Summit County Realtors were in attendance. While a ton of information was covered on the current state of the real estate market, and space limits me discussing the details, I’ll just say that Steve provided incredible insight into why now, more than ever it is vitally important for us as Realtors to engage our sellers in pricing their properties at not just competitive, but at compelling prices. He also provided insight into why, right now, it is an extremely compelling time for Buyer’s to be getting serious about that purchase they’ve had on hold. Could this be the perfect storm for both buyers and sellers??
