Front Range fire chief to give Katrina talk

Don Angell, fire chief of the Fairmount Fire District who helped lead a team to the Gulf Coast to help with relief efforts for Hurricanes Katrina and Rita will share his stories in Summit County.The event will be held at 6 p.m. on Thursday in the Buffalo Mountain Room next to the library at the County Commons near Frisco.Sandwiches, pizza and beverages will be provided.The team was sent to assist the city of San Antonio with the airlift evacuations and long-term sheltering of the people of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina. The evacuation efforts encompassed 88 airlifts and almost 26,000 people in less than 36 hours. The team also assisted in the development of shelters, medical treatment, food services and long-term housing of over 19,000 individuals.
