Fugitive arrested after search at DIA

DENVER ” A fugitive wanted in Missouri and Texas who escaped from police custody at Denver International Airport has been arrested after being found hiding in the bed of a pickup truck.

Airport spokesman Jeff Green says a passenger noticed a man in the vehicle in the east economy parking Sunday morning and notified police. Police say 21-year-old Jose Angel Ruiz had been arrested on suspicion of stealing luggage Saturday night but he managed to break free from officers while being escorted through the airport. He was still handcuffed when arrested at about 7:30 a.m.

Some cars leaving the parking lot were delayed, but airport officials say flights were not affected.

Denver police say Ruiz was wanted in the other states for robbery and escape.
