Fund set up in name of firefighter Niebergall

Longtime Summit County firefighter Barrie Jon Niebergall died Wednesday morning at the Red, White and Blue Fire Department in Breckenridge, where he was an acting lieutenant and driver/operator.

He was 56 years old.

Niebergall was born in Sycamore, Ill., to Ross and Roberta Niebergall. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Farmer; his father and mother; his son, Shane Niebergall; three sisters, Julie Schuelke, Marna Rojas and Angela Euhus; one nephew, David Hamilton; two nieces, Madilin and Baleigh Euhus; special friends Robert and K.C. Farmer; and his beloved Brotherhood of Firefighters.

In lieu of flowers, the family and friends of Niebergall have asked that donations be given to the newly created Barrie Niebergall Memorial Fund. The fund will be used to provide training opportunities to firefighters in Summit County and will be administered through the Red, White and Blue Career Firefighters’ Association.

Donations can be made at any Wells Fargo Bank or sent to Red, White and Blue, Attention Barrie Niebergall Memorial Fund, P.O. Box 710, Breckenridge, CO 80424.
