Funk supply in Breckenridge

KIMBERLY NICOLETTI

Band name: the funk supply company (dj hottness aka lord of word, dj scott karr and dj dre)

When: 10 p.m. tonight

Where: three20 south, Breckenridge

Where’d the name come from? About a few months ago me and my girlfriend where driving to a friend’s house and we drove by this building with a sign that said the frame supply company, but in my head I saw the funk supply company! Then I was like, “that would be a cool name for our DJ crew,” and everyone agreed and that was that.

Home base: Denver

Who are you? I used to front a band called lord of word and the disciples of bass, and scott and dre have been DJing all over for years! I decided to put down the mic for awhile and started DJing about five years ago, and I love it just as much as being in a band! We spin funky house music (Chicago or San Francisco style) some electro and deep house but it has to be funky or we don’t supply it!

If your music were a tangible item, what would it be, and why? Ice cream ’cause everyone wants to take a lick.

Why do people love ya? We just like to have fun, and we want our audience to have fun. If it’s not fun, it’s not worth doing!

How do you keep it fresh? We like to mix the new with the old! In the DJ world there is so much music out there, that if we play some stuff that’s like 10 years old no one would know, and they wouldn’t care just as long as you give them something they can shake their butts too.

What’s the craziest thing you’ve done/weirdest experience? You don’t have enough paper for all that.
