Gallery, Breckenridge Arts District help Snowy Peaks students with abstract watercolor paintings

Continuing a series of art classes provided by Arts Alive Gallery artists and the Breckenridge Arts District at Snowy Peaks High School, Janis Bunchman introduced eight students in April to abstract watercolor landscape paintings, according to the Breckenridge gallery.
The watercolor paper was coated with layers of gesso to create texture, and students masked out lines for the foreground, middle and background of the paintings. To finish the process, the entire sheet of paper was then painted with layers of watercolor paints, and the finished paintings will be part of an art show at the Arts Alive Gallery in the fall.
Classes and instruction for the students at Snowy Peaks High School are supported by a grant given by the Summit Foundation in collaboration with the Breckenridge Arts District. The final class will be May 14 with Jenn Cram in the Breckenridge Arts District.
