Garth Pinchback: Room for improvement along bike path

Breckenridge

There is a lot of room for improvements along the Frisco-Breckenridge bike path.

For one, there is no bike bridge between CMC and the adjacent bike path. With Coyne Road out, one has to ride all the way back to Breck from CMC just to get on the bike path again en route to Frisco.

Second, the Town of Breckenridge needs to use some of its $18 million surplus and put a divider line along the Frisco-Breck bike path, as it has completely worn off.

As well, all the stop signs need to be removed along the path – no one ever stops at these signs anyway.

Rather, the town needs to construct concrete underpasses at major intersections so bikers can ride underneath without stopping and cars can safely continue forth without having to confront any bikers whatsoever when crossing over the path.

Regarding the bike transportation problem (everyone who has been left behind because there are not enough open spaces on the front bike rack knows of this), a solution is for Summit Stage to install a back bike rack that holds an additional four bikes – making a total of seven per trip.

Summit Stage bus lines needs to remove the illegal cameras and listening devices they have installed and re-invest that operating money into additional bike transportation capacity. There would be many more happy bikers and riders if they struck a good bargain with their riders on these issues.
