Gearing up for the NRO Gala

Jim Pokrandt
Sharon Magness, the Denver philanthropist who is engaged to marry Breckenridge Mayor Ernie Blake June 27 at their Silverthorne-area ranch, has joined her husband-to-be in supporting the National Repertory Orchestra (NRO). To create excitement for the summer season and the big Summer Gala June 25 at the Denver Center for Performing Arts, Magness held a pre-Gala reception at the couple's Cherry Hills Village home. A fashion show was a highlight of the evening. Here, Magness shows off one of the Nieman Marcus gowns.

Denver philanthropist Sharon Magness, and her husband-to-be, Breckenridge Mayor Ernie Blake, are helping to boost the profile and fundraising of the National Repertory Orchestra (NRO).

The NRO plays a summer season in Breckenridge and Summit County, bringing together some the nation’s most promising young musicians under the direction of Carl Topilow.

The NRO is gearing up for its big Summer Gala 2004 fundraiser June 25 at the Denver Performing Arts Center. To kick off the event, Magness and Blake recently hosted a pre-Gala reception at their Cherry Hills Village home.

Many NRO supporters from Summit County joined Front Range patrons for the event.

The June 25 Gala features a 6 p.m. silent auction and reception, a 7 p.m. dinner and an 8 p.m. NRO concert followed by dancing. It is a black-tie event. Tickets are $150 for individuals. Tables are available. Make reservations by June 11. For information, call (303) 796-8881.
