SUMMIT COUNTY – Let the celebration begin. The arduous task of creating the first Summit County Arts Council (SCAC) calendar, A Glimpse of Paradise, is complete, and now the council is throwing calendar release parties. The first party takes place from 4-6 p.m. Friday at Ski Hill Framing in Breckenridge. The second takes place Friday, Dec. 16 at Buffalo Mountain Gallery in Frisco. The calendar features 14 reproductions of Summit County artists’ work including photography, paintings and sculptures. It also includes inspirational quotes from the artists.”We have a really nice representation of work and a lot of local scenes,” artist David Weihnacht said. And the quotes talk about the creative lives of Summit County artists.”What inspired me is that early morning light, when the dawn sky reminds us of that youthful blaze that only lasts an instant,” writes artist Anyes Adams in the calendar.”The presence of the divine illuminates nature and radiates from within us,” Weihnacht said. “When we take the time to connect these energies, wondrous moments occur.”The calendar sells for $15. Proceeds benefit the SCAC’s scholarship fund, which gives high school graduates money to pursue a degree in the arts. The first release party also will feature original artworks that have not been selected for the Breckenridge Music Institute 2005 poster. The winning artist whose art was chosen for the poster will be announced at the party. For more information or to buy a calendar, go to the calendar release party or call Anyes Adams at (970) 547-0504.Kimberly Nicoletti can be reached at (970) 668-3998, ext. 245, or at
