Glen Graber: Upper Blue San rates see steep increase

The April 2010 issue of the Upper Blue Sanitation Board news says the $1 increase in service fees per month per sfe (“SFE” is undefined in the article) for 2010 “represents only a $4 increase over the last 17 years.” The new rate of $24 means the base rate for comparison was $20, so the 17-year increase is 20 percent. If you check your bills, you’ll find that the rate has increased 20 percent in the last three years (mine has, so I assume yours has), so I guess the entire increase has occurred in the last three years, after 14 years of marvelous cost control. Going forward, that does not bode well.
