‘Go Bill’

In the Sept. 5 edition of the Summit Daily News, a story from the Associated Press quoted Grover Norquist, president of Americans for Tax Reform.Norquist was referring to Gov. Bill Owens’ support of Referendum C and D, the financial fix for TABOR limits to appear on the Nov. 1st ballot.Norquist said, “The lesson to be learned from Colorado is that a governor who could have been president, once he turned on TABOR, ended his national ambitions.”I am certainly an odd fellow for defending Bill Owens, being a staunch Democrat and a strong advocate for public education. But, if a candidate for president must first completely cripple his own state’s ability to raise the finances to adequately fund education, health care and state infrastructure, then how is that an indictment for said candidate’s ability to govern? All I can say is, “Go Bill!”
