The recently appointed transition team for Colorado’s Governor-elect John Hickenlooper will hold a regional meeting in Summit County from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Summit County Community and Senior Center in Frisco.

The meeting, which will be open to the public, will give the team an opportunity to take comments on Colorado’s economic and transportation needs. The first half of the meeting will be focused on economic development with the second half set aside for discussions on transportation.

“This is a meeting to gather ideas and suggestions for moving Colorado forward,” Hickenlooper’s spokesman Eric Brown said in an e-mail. “The goal with all of these regional issues is to ensure that all of Colorado has a voice in shaping the next administration.”

The Frisco stop is one of 11 regional meetings the team will host across Colorado.

Hickenlooper will not attend the meeting.

Denver’s mayor announced the formation of the transition team Nov. 3 following his Nov. 2 win over Tom Tancredo and Dan Maes in Colorado’s gubernatorial race.

The transition team, called Partners for Colorado, is led by Lt. Gov.-elect Joe Garcia and entrepreneur John Huggins.

The team is responsible for smoothing the transition from the Ritter to the Hickenlooper administration, making recommendations for early executive and legislative actions for the administration and reviewing the performance of various sectors of government for possible improvements. The team will also recruit candidates for heads of major departments.

“Starting today we set aside our differences and work together to rebuild hope in our state and get our economy back on track,” Hickenlooper said in a statement following the election. “That’s what our friends and neighbors need. That’s what Colorado needs.”
