Governor did us no favors

Jim Wheeler

The lady from Rifle seemed just a tad miffed at our Guv, ole “Asphalt Bill” Owens and his proclamation that “Colorado was on fire.” After spending the last five days in Dallas, I can truly see why. Every person you talk to either offers condolences for losing our state or says how sad they are that they won’t be able to visit us this summer. It is one sorry situation.

But, what upsets me the most is the fact that those around the Guv that are not supposed to let him talk, did. The best excuse maker in the state of Colorado, Dan Hopkins, was transferred from CDOT Highways to CDOT Statehouse and was to be the spokesperson for the Guv. The Guv was only supposed to smile and Mr. Hopkins was to do the talking. Something went wrong, really wrong. And now everyone in Colorado will pay the price.

I have to agree with the lady from Rifle … it is time to retire Gov. Owens. He can’t talk, obviously won’t listen and has really done nothing positive for Colorado. At this point, I don’t have a clue whom to vote for, but I am 100 percent sure whom I will vote against. Sustaining this kind of damage once is one time too many. We don’t need to wait for something similar to happen again.
