Governor seeks applications for DA’s seat

SUMMIT COUNTY – Gov. Bill Owens is seeking applicants to fill the Fifth Judicial District Attorney seat that will be vacated Dec. 14 when current DA Michael Goodbee joins the state attorney general’s office as deputy of the Criminal Justice Section.

According to the state Constitution, qualified applicants must be voters in the district and have practiced law in Colorado for five years.

Goodbee and others said they hope Owens makes a selection before the end of the year. Whomever he appoints will remain in office until the general election in November 2004.

Applications are available through the Governor’s Office of Legal Counsel at (303) 866-6380 or online at Completed applications can be mailed or hand-delivered to the Governor’s Office of Legal Counsel, Attn: Britt Weygandt, chief counsel, 120 State Capitol, Denver, CO 80203.
