Grand Timber, Valdoro team up for blood drive

Daily News staff report

Grand Timber Lodge and Valdoro Mountain Lodge of Breckenridge are hosting the fourth annual Children’s Hospital Blood Drive on June 8-9 to help replenish their blood supply.

The blood drive is encouraging healthy individuals in the community to donate blood on behalf of the Children’s Hospital.

“Our blood usage is high right now, we have a teenager rejecting a heart transplant using units of blood daily,” said Chris Hill, blood donor coordinator for Children’s Hospital. “This along with our daily usage has been a challenge for us to keep up with.”

Giving blood is simple and safe. Donors must be at least 17 years old, in good health and must weigh at least 110 pounds.

The process takes about 45 minutes from the miniphysical to refreshments. Call (970) 453-8883 to schedule a donation appointment.

Hours for the drive are 2-6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 8 and 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday, June 9 – at the Breck Inn (11078 Highway 9).
