Greeley man arrested in attempted ski theft

BRECKENRIDGE ” Breckenridge police on Wednesday arrested a 21-year-old Greeley man they saw hiding inside A Racer’s Edge ski and bike shop at 114 N. Main St.

Dispatchers sent police to the shop at 1:50 a.m. on the report of an alarm. Officers saw an open window with a torn screen and several pairs of skis outside on the ground.

They entered the building through the window and found Steve McNamara Jr. hiding inside. Police arrested him on suspicion of second-degree burglary, criminal mischief, first-degree criminal trespass, criminal attempt theft and resisting arrest.

He was being held at the Summit County Jail as of Wednesday afternoon.

The value of the skis recovered outside the building was $8,914.
