Groundbreaking for new courtroom is Wednesday

BRECKENRIDGE – A groundbreaking ceremony for the new courtroom is scheduled for noon Wednesday at the Summit County Justice Center.

The Board of County Commissioners will be joined by Chief Fifth Judicial District Judge Terry Ruckriegle and others for this long-awaited addition.

The much-needed courtroom has been high on the county commissioners’ capital improvement list since 2002. Construction will begin this week and outside preparations are already under way.

Court will be disrupted for two to three weeks and will be held in different locations around the county while the early construction is under way.

The Clerk of Courts Office remains open during construction from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. The office is closed for the noon lunch hour.
