Group outlines plan for next president to fight global warming

DENVER ” A Colorado-based team of climate and policy experts is asking the next president to lead a massive effort to reverse global warming by steering the country away from a carbon-fueled economy.

The Presidential Climate Action Project issued more than 100 recommendations Tuesday for the next president to undertake in his or her first 100 days.

Members of the group say they have been in touch with each presidential campaign about the issue.

Former Colorado Senator Gary Hart, a member of the group, said the United States needs what he called a “Rooseveltian” effort to reverse climate change.

The group says climate change is an economic and national security issue as well as an environmental one.
