Headline was inappropriate

KARIN PENEGORbreckenridge

Regarding the front page news story “Summit Foundation Fires Director” (SDN June 7), the Summit Daily news staff has once again shown the county how insensitive this newspaper can be. Deb Edwards devoted 22 years of her life to make our neighborhood a better place. She helped raise hundreds of thousands of dollars for local charities, not to mention I am sure a hefty advertising budget for the Summit Daily News – could you have chosen a better word than “fires”? The woman worked very hard for all of us – you should have taken some time to read the thesaurus and chosen words carefully rather than strip her of her dignity. Whether or not you agree with her termination, the headline was offensive and completely inappropriate.
