Heidi Misch: Yes on 3B, no on 60, 61, 101

I would like to encourage people to vote “yes” on 3B if they are concerned about preventing deeper cuts at the classroom level in our local schools, recruiting and retaining quality teachers, and maintaining instructional programs and extracurricular activities.

I would also like to encourage people to VOTE NO on Amendments 60, 61 and Proposition 101 if they are concerned about our communities and our state. Each of these measures is touted by proponents as a tax decrease to voters – with no impact on schools or other public services. These measures, while appearing to be quite simple on the surface, will have far-reaching consequences on our schools, fire districts and local and regional governments. Each of these ballot measures will hamstring the functioning of these critical services.

I volunteer quite frequently at the schools and highly encourage other people to do so. But no amount of volunteering can replace the funding needed to purchase necessary supplies, ensure that our children have access to tools and resources such as computers, and to retain good teachers and staff.

For strong schools and a strong community, I would like to urge people to vote “yes” on 3B and “no” on 60, 61 and 101.
