Heidi Spurgeon: Why is Dillon Valley being ignored?

Dillon Valley

I so agree with Joe Jefferson on the BS that they keep giving us about finally getting Little Beaver Trail back open. First of all the slide never should have happened. Whose greedy mind thought up the idea to build a bunch of businesses on top of a hill that was so unstable to begin with, that there were small slides before anything was ever up there? Now here we are , almost November, snow on the ground, and we’re all using the same steep slippery hill to get out of our subdivision. We are taxpayers too, and many of us – even though a letter printed Oct. 27 labeled us “less affluent” – do live in homes worth over half a million and we pay extremely hefty property taxes … so why are we being ignored? Who’s going to finally take responsibility and fix this road?

Another factor to consider: A great number of people who live in this subdivision have only two-wheel-drive vehicles, so now that hill up to the highway is not only become a traffic bottleneck, it’s now become dangerous as well. It’s really hard to promise to fix the road when you haven’t even started working on it, isn’t it? If you live in Dillon Valley, then for heaven’s sake speak up! If enough of us complain, maybe we’ll be heard.

Any day now they’ll be printing a article in this paper about how they can’t work on the road because there’s snow on the ground – as if anyone with a brain couldn’t predict there would be snow by now! So I guess for now we see if that “around Thanksgiving” opening they gave us will actually happen! If not then everybody who lives here, grab your shovels and we’ll take care of it ourselves!
