Help us celebrate Denise1s life

letter to the editor

Many Breckenridge locals lost a very good friend unexpectedly early Friday morning, March 29. Denise Baumgardner passed away in her sleep after a long struggle with several health problems. She was too young to die<too full of love and a zest for life. She had an unparalleled passion and deep love for her 8-year-old daughter, Rachel, and husband, Paul.We are all still in shock. It was a few short months ago that Denise and Paul hosted a Halloween party at their home. We all have fond memories of this annual event; Denise was always the best party hostess. She would spend weeks preparing the food, decorations, activities<and then spend the duration of the event making sure everyone was having a great time.Rachel1s classmates at Upper Blue Elementary wrote notes to her when they were told of Denise1s passing. Many of the children, in their innocence, mention the great parties that Denise helped with at school.Denise was a wonderful friend. She accepted people for who they were and did not judge them. She did not encounter people casually. She wanted to get to know you<and you could feel her genuine love and concern whenever you were around her.She was so strong and hid her pain very well; many acquaintances were surprised to learn of her fight with diabetes and other related health problems. Those of us who did know of her suffering are comforted by the knowledge that she is no longer in pain.We will be celebrating Denise1s life today at 6 p.m. in the Beaver Run Ballroom on the first floor near the main lobby of Beaver Run. The family is requesting donations to Rachel1s college fund, in lieu of flowers, be sent to Paul Baumgardner, PO Box 7816, Breckenridge, CO 80424.From friends who love and miss Denise
