From film festivals to fireworks to free live music, Summit County has a calendar packed with events this winter. Here’s some of the most anticipated happenings in Summit for 2025.
Breckenridge
International Snow Sculpture Championships
Around a dozen of the top sculpting teams from across the world will be facing off in a head-to-head competition during Breckenridge’s International Snow Sculpture Championships from Jan. 20-29.
Teams are tasked with carving 25-ton blocks of snow into works of art. Artists are only allowed to use hand tools, creativity and inspiration to bring their ideas to life. No power tools are allowed.
“Everyone who visits the sculptures is sure to be struck by the incredible mix of artistry and athleticism it takes to create these temporary masterpieces,” Mayor Kelly Owens said via email. “We love that each year is a unique experience — with many sculptures representing current global issues.”
She said the town encourages those interested in spectating to use the bus system and avoid the roads during peak travel hours, such as from 2-6 p.m. Friday through Sunday, since the downtown area is likely to be busy.
Sculpting week will be going on from Jan. 20-24, and viewing week takes place from Jan. 24-29.
Representatives of the town recommend spectators view the sculptures Sunday, Jan. 26, to Wednesday, Jan. 29, when reservations are not required. Reservations, which are free, are required to view the sculptures up close on Saturday, Jan. 25, between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.

Banff Mountain Film Festival
The 2025 Banff Mountain Film Festival is coming back to the Riverwalk Center in Breckenridge for its 16th year from Feb. 21-22.
Each year, the lineup is stacked with action, environmental and adventure mountain films, and ticket proceeds benefit Breckenridge Outdoor Education Center. A schedule has not yet been released. For updates, visit BOEC.org/banff-mountain-film-festival/.

Silverthorne
February First Friday Wish Lantern Festival
Drawing inspiration from Mexico’s Noche de Candela and the Chinese Lunar New Year — celebrations meant to bring light in between the winter solstice and the spring equinox — Silverthorne’s First Friday for February will be a wish lantern festival on Feb. 7.
Community members can decorate wish lanterns at the Silverthorne Pavilion and send them to float down the Blue River at 6:45 p.m.
March First Friday Rail Jam
More than 100 skiers and snowboarders will compete for cash prizes in four different categories at Silverthorne’s eighth annual rail jam on March 7. The competition will be outside of the Silverthorne Performing Arts Center from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. alongside live music, food and drinks.
Keystone
Women’s Weekend
Keystone Resort will host the first Keystone Women’s Weekend from Jan. 10-12. The three-day event is set to be full of activities, most of which are free for Epic Pass holders.
The weekend starts with a showing of the movie “Girl Winter,” a collection of short films celebrating women in the ski and snowboarding industry. After the movie, there will be a “fireside chat” that features a panel of women leaders in the outdoor industry, including Keystone Resort’s new vice president and general manager Shannon Buhler. Doors open for the event at 5:30 p.m., and the movie starts at 6 p.m. Tickets are free and can be reserved at TinyURL.com/mrx99ns9
On Saturday, the resort will be hosting half- and full-day lessons and terrain park clinics from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Both the lessons and the clinics are currently full, but there are still openings for terrain park clinics on Sunday. Sunday’s terrain park clinics run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. and include half- and full-day options.
There will be an introduction to backcountry skiing class guided by women ski patrol both days from 8:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

Maja Russer with Keystone Neighborhood Co. said her organization was looking to tie in their Backcountry and Bourbon to women’s weekend, so they created Women & Whiskey.
Women & Whiskey will take place Saturday night at 6:30 p.m. in Warren Station. Breckenridge Distillery’s Billie Keithley will be available on site for tastings spirits and cocktail demonstrations.
High Country Hootenanny
The Keystone Neighborhood Co.’s bluegrass festival, High-Country Hootenanny, will return to Warren Station Jan. 31 through Feb. 1. Russer said a second night was added to the event, which was a one-day event last year, after a suggestion from the community.
Friday, Jan. 31, will be a local’s night starting at 6:30 p.m. Russer said the Keystone Neighborhood Co. wanted to ensure the lineup for the night included true Summit County fan-favorites, so they chose locally loved bands like Pluck Norris and Sunday Bankers. Bands including Rapidgrass, Broken Compass Bluegrass and more will take the stage Saturday, Feb. 2, starting at 6:30 p.m.
Tickets can be found at WinterBluegrass2025.EventBrite.com
Keystone’s Rocky Mountain Country Fest
Warren Station’s country tradition continues March 15 with its Rocky Mountain Country Fest at Keystone. Performers Micky & the Motor Cars and Union Grey will be playing, and doors open 6 p.m. VIP tickets are available and come with early entry, a whiskey tasting and line dancing lessons.

Frisco
Spontaneous Combustion Bonfire
Frisco’s Spontaneous Combustion Bonfire provides entertainment and a spot to dispose of Christmas trees. The Feb. 8 event, which will be at the corner of Marina Road and Colorado Highway 9/Summit Boulevard in Frisco, starts at 6 p.m. with fireworks set to take place at 8 p.m.
The town will be collecting resident’s Christmas trees up until the day of the event at 4 p.m. Beverages and snacks will be available to purchase with proceeds benefiting Mile High Behavioral Health.

These free concerts will happen at Eagle’s Landing in Center Village and start a half-hour before the resort shuts down trails for the day at 4 p.m. The event lasts until 5 p.m. The Denver-based O’Connor Brothers Band, which is slated to play the Feb. 15 concert, is a five-piece band that plays original new roots and rock music. A rock-and-roll band local to Summit, Stereo Transmission, will take stage for the second winter concert March 22.
Subaru WinterFest
Subaru and Copper Mountain are bringing back Subaru WinterFest from Feb. 21-23.
The line up includes The National Parks, High Lonesome, The Goonies and Simba Sax. There will also be Subaru swag, the latest in adventure gear, free snacks and beverages, activities for dogs and giveaways.
