Hey, Spike! doubles up on the Florida ladies

Happenstance is a word not often utilized, but it does happen.
Last week, Hey, Spike! featured American slopestyle snowboarder Wesley Huntington, a member of the Brazilian women’s team born in Florida and almost 28.
This week’s soc-biz literary effort is about another Floridian, also 28.
Welcome to Amy Witte’s life on The Summit.
Spike! already had Wesley’s interview in progress when he ran into Amy down at the Frisco Bay Marina and she agreed to be a subject.
Born in Gainesville, and graduating from Florida State University with a major in advertising and minors in film and Italian, Amy moved to Colorado a little over a year ago.
“The previous five years, I had worked at digital marketing agencies in Atlanta managing teams across states to execute international online and social media marketing campaigns to grow retail clients like Japanned on $55 million budgets, so I was working most holidays and almost all weekends. After finally taking my first ‘real’ vacation to the Grand Teton, my heart told me it was time for a change in atmosphere and to pursue my passion for marketing either a company or organization that supported my love for the outdoors,” Amy explains.
“I had never been to Colorado, but flew here to check it out and just felt this is where I was supposed to be,” she adds.
After a short stint with a Boulder digital marketing firm, Amy joined a start-up firm in Denver that builds websites and provides online marketing for dental practices, law firms and psychologists.
“I run the entire digital marketing program, plus manage paid search campaigns for 22 clients,” she says. “It’s different from my previous work in Atlanta, but it’s at least doing good work, which is the most important thing I can do.”
Amy was working from home and decided to move to Summit County so she could “ski every day, and experience living in a true mountain town.”
She chose Dillon, still working at home, with a day in Denver each week.
“Although I’m still looking for the job that matches my passion for the outdoors with my marketing expertise, I love living in Dillon. Not only is it beautiful and everything I love to do is right outside my door, but also the community here is nothing like any other place I lived. I’m really lucky,” Amy says of her new hometown.
“I love everything outdoors — camping, hiking, mountain biking, skiing/snowboarding, soccer, crew. And also volunteering with kids,” she says. “SOS Outreach and Outward Bound are two really amazing organizations that I’d love to either volunteer with or work for because of the impact they have on the lives of kids.”
Amy’s boyfriend, Patrick Cray, who works for Human Movement, a company based in Louisville that puts on fun races across the U.S., is an equal participant in the recreation department.
But back to more business, Amy comments on her success before coming to Colorado:
“My claim to fame is developing — and executing — the paid search strategy that delivered Cheney’s most profitable Black Friday and Cyber Monday performances in the company’s history, generating $37.5 million in total revenue in just four days. It saved them from going bankrupt in 2012, so I’m pretty proud of that and will always be a part of their family — they are a great company.”
Amy has also done what she calls “fun stuff.”
“I’ve done other fun stuff like working for Sony Pictures Entertainment in N.Y.C. marketing movies (‘21,’ ‘Superbad,’ and ‘Spiderman 3’),” she notes. “It just wasn’t my passion to do for a long time.”
