High Country Dads host monthly play group

Daily Staff Writer

The High Country Dads will host another father-child play group Wednesday. Summit County fathers with children up to age 5 are welcome to spend some time with their children and other local dads and their kids. Refreshments are served, so you don’t have to worry about dinner. The play group is set for 5:30-7:30 p.m. in the Mount Royal Room at the County Commons outside Frisco. As Part of the Summit County Fatherhood Initiative, the play groups are a great opportunity for fathers to meet other local men who are committed to being the best dads they can be. The group is open to all kinds of fathers – from dads-to-be looking for advice on what to expect to new dads and more experienced fathers who are happy to share their experiences. There are plenty of books and toys for the children, as well as a wealth of material from the Fatherhood Initiative library, that dads can check out. “This play group is for men who want to reserve special time to focus on being a better dad,” said Alex Miller, coordinator of High Country Dads. “It’s a laid-back atmosphere that’s a lot of fun. The other coordinator, Carlos Abel, is Spanish-speaking, so dads more comfortable with that language are encouraged to come as well.”For more information, call (970) 668-1425 or e-mail talex101@yahoo.com.
