High Country Unitarian Universalist Fellowship kicks off fall program

Susan and Zachary Robertson depart the ark dressed as a family of tigers, after the floodwaters recede!

For the second year in a row, High Country Unitarian Universalist Fellowship performed a musical extravaganza to celebrate the kickoff of its fall religious education program. Last year, the group did a rendition of Dr. Seuss’ “The Lorax.” This year’s musical was called “Oh, That Noah!” held Sunday at the Summit County Community and Senior Center. The original script offered a different “take” on the Biblical story of Noah and the ark – a timely theme, considering the havoc that floods are creating in Florida and eastern sections of the United States.

Approximately 100 people were on hand to watch 22 of the fellowship’s best thespians perform selections from Walter Horsley’s classic Christian musical, “100 Percent Chance of Rain,” and variations of words and music on the Christian Bible school song, “Rise & Shine.” The part of Noah was very convincingly played by Marty Hertzberg, and Melody Beiler was outstanding in the part of God. Rosa Lawton accompanied the group on the piano.

High Country Unitarian Universalist Fellowship thanks everyone who came out in support of this program and looks forward to making this an annual event on Summit County’s fall calendar.
