Hint of Asia gallery opening aligns with Silverthorne’s Arts and Culture Strategic Plan

After several months of public outreach, in January 2016 the Silverthorne Town Council approved and adopted Silverthorne’s first Arts and Culture Strategic Plan.

The plan, compiled by The 23.4 Degrees Team of Dillon, includes input from the Silverthorne Arts & Culture Advisory Group, Silverthorne residents and the business community, every fourth-grader in Summit County, and local artists, among others.

The plan advocates for community engagement, creating intentional spaces that are enhanced by Arts and Culture including development of spaces such as art galleries, as well as implementing strategic marketing efforts which would enhance the visibility and awareness of Arts and Culture in Silverthorne — and to invite and encourage residents and visitors to participate in the arts and cultural activities.

In the seven months following publication of the plan, Silverthorne has been busy. In addition to breaking ground on the Silverthorne Performing Arts Complex, the Lake Dillon Theatre Company has taken center stage in the Outlets at Silverthorne, the Studio B dance studio has brought new life to a decrepit building on Highway 9 and Annie Road, the Silverthorne Art Wall has become an interactive community art installation featuring the works of local artists, and the gallery — A Hint of Asia — is set to open its doors with its first exhibit entitled “Love, Charm and Beauty of Indo-China.”
