History students say thanks

Ben Ferris, Michael Hughes, Laura ReichardtSummit Middle School

We would like to thank all the people who donated their time and money to ensure that our trip to the University of Maryland to compete in National History Day was a success. The generosity of the kind individuals who were present at the Summit Education Celebration provided not only part of their hard-earned cash, but also their heartfelt encouragement. For this, we thank you – teachers, administrators, support staff, and others. No thank you letter would be complete without recognizing the kindness of the people who donated money at World Fest. We appreciate the donations from parents, teachers, students and other family members. These people rarely receive the recognition they deserve, but they are always there, working tirelessly behind the scenes. We’re speaking, of course, of our parents. The families of all three contestants have supported us since day one, and they were there with us at National History Day, encouraging us. No amount of thanks or gifts can ever repay these people. Thank you, parents. Thanks goes out to Carolyn Wolsiefer who traveled to the University of Maryland to support us during the first few days at the competition. The last, and most important person we have to thank is Mr. John Spierling. He has helped us and guided us since our project began, and none of us would have made it to Nationals without his help. We can’t thank you enough, Mr. Spierling.
