History teaches that Hitler was not taken seriously, and thus, many lives were lost

In reply to Ed Townsley’s letter in the March 16 paper, I would like to say that he is the one who has not learned from history. It is true we entered World War II late. Think how many lives would have been saved if we had helped stop Hitler before he had continued to re-arm and break the treaty that Germany had signed to end World War I.

The problem back then was that many people here did not consider Hitler a real threat.
