DAILY NEWS STAFF REPORT

Summit County residents and visitors can purchase a watercolor image of an angler on the Blue River for only $5 and support local restoration efforts at the same time. Local watercolor artist, Ann Weaver, has generously donated an original image to the Blue River Restoration Committee to help raise proceeds to restore the “Gold Medal” status of the Blue River. Posters are now on sale at the Silverthorne Recreation Center or by calling (970) 262-7390.The Recreation Center also has personally signed prints by Weaver for $10 and signed and matted prints for $40. Affordable Framing of Silverthorne is offering a special framing price for this 2004 Blue River poster by Weaver. Clients may choose from several ready-made frame styles with dry mounting and regular glass for $40 plus tax. Offer expires Dec. 31.Any profit from the posters will be used to match a $120,000 Division of Wildlife (DOW) “Fishing is Fun” grant and paired with money recently awarded by the Great Outdoors Colorado (GOCO) grant for the project. These funds will be applied to the design and 2005 construction improvements on the river that benefit trout habitat and overall Blue River health. The Silverthorne Factory Stores have donated $1,000 to the Blue River Restoration Committee to commission Weaver’s work and underwrite the costs of turning her image into a commemorative poster.
