Staging and real estate preparations has really made a boom in the design and decorating world. From television to magazines, the tricks and advice given to home sellers (and buyers) is extensive. Staging has become an industry all its own.

Prepping your home to sell has many guidelines and strict concepts that are advised by real estate professionals; however, you still want the home to feel like your own. You can stage a home from floor to ceiling to create that home which appeals to the masses, but you still hope to have the interior decor that is caters to our taste. I’m here to tell you that you can marry different trends together to compliment your style and that of others. Take the abstract theme that demonstrates bold colors and shapes and merge it with the simplistic, minimalist qualities of the modern style, and you have yourself a staged home with your personal finesse.

The theory behind the modern taste brings together many concepts – contemporary ideas, modest furnishings and accents, no clutter, easy lines and mindful color combinations. With that said, the modern take in home decor is any Realtor’s dream. Simple sells! Neutral walls and straightforward furniture configurations allow the buyer to relate easily to your home. Buyers are seeking to effortlessly place themselves, their family and their belongings in your home.

Although, the modern decor strikes the real estate world, the style may not cater to your more creative, color-hungry preferences. This is when you can start mixing trends in your home to accomplish the perfect harmonization that compliments your taste. After all, it is still your home, and you deserve to be comfortable too.

Along with the popularity of minimalist modern design, eclectic and abstract characteristics are attractive fashions of today’s modern interiors decorators. The eclectic and abstract details bring playful colors, strong textures and (at times) random details together to complement and tell a story. Many folks like to keep pieces of their history and incorporate them into one room. Eclectic spaces and accents allow visitors to witness a narration of the home owners’ lives and these rooms tend to spark conversation.

Abstract ideas focus primarily on color and ambiguity. Unfamiliar spaces and hues of the abstract sense marry effortlessly with the eclectic style.

Bringing together the modernist, abstract and eclectic creates a complete package – buyer friendly, yet fun and jazzy to capture attention, spark interest and adhere to your style. Take the dining room pictured here as an example. When placing a simple, clean dining set within a neutrally, modern-styled kitchen, you need an additional pop. This designer added an abstract wall painted with a handful of different, yet complimenting hues to create a focal point.

Practice your minimalist-modern personality in your home as you prepare to sell, but remember to keep it hip as you unite different trends.
