Horse rescue fundraiser is Sunday

SUMMIT COUNTY ” The Silverthorne Pavilion will host the Summit County fundraiser for the Troublesome Horse Rescue and Rehabilitation on Sunday from 2-6 p.m.

The event will include barbecue to eat and activities for kids including stick horse races and games and musical entertainment. Chuck Pyle will be the featured musical guest from 4-5:30 p.m.

Chuck Pyle blends his upbeat perspective with old-fashioned horse sense. He mixes hummable melodies with straight-from-the-saddle poetry, quoting bumper stickers, proverbs, world leaders and old cowboys.

There will also be a silent auction with items available for bidding along with educational information on horse ownership and rescue.

Those in attendance can visit with a horse named “Scout” who was blind from his growing cataract condition. He received surgery at CSU this spring sponsored by Troublesome Horse Rescue and Rehabilitation, and he now sees out of that eye.

There will also be the opportunity to learn about the special programs that are a part of the THRR including the equine therapy and handicapped riding program.

Call Nancy Ring at (970) 668-3230 or Sue Pratt at (970) 724-3231 for more information.
