Hyatt seeking ice sculptors

BRECKENRIDGE – Representatives from the Hyatt at Main Street Station are looking for a few people who know how to carve ice into art.

On Jan. 31, the hotel will host the first Budweiser International Snow Sculpture Championships Ice Carving Competition. The competition will be held on the plaza at Main Street Station and will feature up to 10 local and regional artists who will each carve a 320-pound block of ice into a work of art.

Sculptors or others interested in ice carving are invited to enter. Each competitor will be given two-and-a-half hours to complete a carving – from 10 a.m . to 12:30 p.m. on Jan. 31. Judging will begin at 12:30 p.m., with first-, second- and third-place prizes awarded. The ice carvings will stay on display at the Main Street Station Plaza for as long as weather allows.
