I-70 closed over Vail Pass

VAIL ” Westbound Interstate 70 over Vail Pass has been shut down due to an accident, and traffic has been diverted onto a frontage road.

The westbound lanes were closed around 4:30 a.m. Monday. The Colorado Department of Transportation says backups are less than a few miles.

There was no estimate on when westbound lanes might reopen.

Vail police and the State Patrol haven’t released details of the accident.
