I-70 reopened at Eisenhower Tunnel
December 26, 2005
The eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 at the Eisenhower Tunnel reopened at about 3 p.m. Monday after remaining closed for about two hours following a rollover car accident inside the tunnel.
The accident occurred at about 12:30 p.m., and the occupants suffered minor injuries, said Colorado Department of Transportation spokesperson Mindy Crane.
Crane said accidents inside the tunnel generally take longer to cleanup because crews have to clear vehicles out of the tunnel before they can begin working.
