I-70 work will slow traffic starting today

Interstate I-70 work will slow traffic starting today. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) will be stopping traffic several times a day on westbound Interstate 70 at Georgetown Hill as rock mitigation work began on Wednesday.Safety considerations require traffic stops up to 20 minutes at a time several times each day. The stops take place between 8:30 a.m. and 5:30 p.m., Monday through Thursday. Westbound traffic will be stopped just beyond the Georgetown exit. Drivers should expect one or two stops each hour, depending on traffic volumes.Crews will be setting attenuator system posts this week. The rockfall barrier fencing that will be installed next week is the largest and strongest ever placed by CDOT.This project is weather dependent. CDOT will send out notifications regarding any schedule changes.
