Ice Melt parade held today

DILLON – The 21st annual Ice Melt Contest is under way with $2 tickets for guessing when the official ice melt device will break into the now-frozen waters of the Dillon Reservoir. Tickets are available from local banks, Rotarians or online at At 11 a.m. today in the Dillon Town Hall parking lot the 2006 Rotary Ice Princess will be crowned followed by a parade down Lake Dillon Drive to the Dillon Marina. The official ice melt device will then be launched onto the lake via hovercraft.The winning guess wins $2,000. The two runners-up will get $750 and $500 respectively. Tickets must be turned in to a Rotarian by April 24.
