Imperial Lift evac’d Wednesday

The high-altitude Imperial Lift at Breckenridge resort broke down Wednesday and resulted in six skiers having to be rope-evac’d just after noon, according to a press release from the resort.

No injuries were reported.

The mechanical issues were related to weather conditions, the resort said. The issues with the lift were immediately fixed, but the chair remained closed to the public for the rest of the day due to the same conditions. The chair did not reopen Thursday due to weather conditions but is expected to reopen Friday.

In a rope evacuation, ski patrol sets up a rope and pulley system to lower people down from the chairlift.
